Two Lady Jackets were named to the first team and seven were honored overall when the Western Athletic Conference announced its 2023-24 basketball season award winners Wednesday.

Voted by the conference coaches to the first team were senior Peyton Walker and junior Raegan Snider.

Senior Addy Matthews was voted to the second team and earning honorable mention were junior Talor Mecklenburg, sophomore Abbie Myers and freshmen Adlee Friesen and Mattie Slezickey.

The team’s point guard, Walker averaged 6.1 points and 3.5 assists per game for the Lady Jackets as they finished the season 24-6.

KHS was 8-2 in conference games, finishing third behind champion Bethany (10-0 and also eventual 4A state champion) and Tuttle (9-1 and state quarterfinalist).

Walker led the team with 3.3 steals a game and also averaged 42.3 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Snider led the team with 11.7 points per game. She also was second with 4.6 rebounds per contest and led the team in shooting 51.6 percent overall.

Matthews scored 11.7 points a game, second on the team and pulled down 3.4 rebounds while grabbing 1.7 steals.

She led the team with 59 3-pointers made for the year, averaging 39.9 percent shooting from long range.

Myers averaged 8.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals a game.

Mecklenburg averaged 4.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Slezickey scored 4.1 points while averaging 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals to go with 1.1 assists.

Friesen contributed 2.3 points and 2.6 rebounds a night.

Bethany’s Eric Sailer was named the conference’s coach of the year.

Most Valuable Player went to Bethany senior Zya Vann, who has signed to play at the University of Oklahoma.

The Lady Bronchos’ Keziah Lofton, a junior who has committed to OU, was the Defensive Player of the Year.

Tuttle’s Allie Rehl was named Offensive Player of the Year and Anadarko’s Taejah Hightower the Newcomer of the Year.
