Read moreHow, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Romans 10:4 The Church is entrusted with the message, the Good News of Jesus the Christ. The Good News is that Jesus came to save us from our sin. Why? Because left in our sin against God and man we are found guilty, condemned and awaiting punishment, the wrath of God. We are without hope in this world. Jesus described this punishment when he talked about the rich man and Lazarus. They both died and the rich man was in hell, in agony in its fire. Jesus also described hell as “outer darkness” where “there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth”. It is hell because it is total separation from God. No love. No goodness. No light. No peace. But Jesus did save us from our sin. “But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.” Hebrews 9:26 Romans 10:4 tells us that we are called to believe in the ONE God sent. The gospel must be preached because everyone has a decision to make - to believe in God’s son, or not to believe in God’s son. Everyone will be judged on their decision. At First Christian Church we believe God’s Word is true. And we believe in Jesus the Word who has taken away our sins. Come and celebrate God our Savior with us this Sunday at 10AM. Pastor Gene
