Lacy Public School graduates and former students braved the Oklahoma wind for a 2022 reunion photo in front of a mural at the Lacy Community Center (school’s former cafeteria). After a reception at the center, Lacy Panthers, spouses, school staffers and friends enjoyed a catered dinner. Lacy school closed in 1968, consolidating with Hennessey Public Schools. “Lacy didn’t have a football program, so boys who wanted football went to Hennessey,” said one of those former HHS football players. Kingfisher County Drug Court Director John Rice, center, was presented with the county bar association’s Liberty Bell Award by President Matt Oppel, left, and Associate District Judge Lance Schneiter. The award is given each year to a local layperson who has contributed to justice and the rule of law. “Mr. Rice has provided exceptional service to the county, the court and our drug court participants,” Schneiter said, noting that Rice also helped draft the framework for mental health court and other diversionary programs. “Many lives have been changed through his hard work and diligent effort.” [Photo Provided]
