Read moreAlthough they didn’t win the Class 4A competitive cheer state championship, Kingfisher High School cheerleaders still came home from Tulsa with some prestigious hardware. The KHS squad was announced as Class 4A academic state champions during the state competition held last Saturday at Union High School’s UMAC. Team members boasted a cumulative GPA of 3.73. Those taking part in winning the academic crown as well as competing at state include, from left: front row, Ivy Hartman, Cami Snodgrass, Makenna Willson and Courtney Butts; middle row, Gretchen Garrett, Anna Massey, Harley Schlegel, Ashley Casillas, Kylee Rojas, Savannah Rosen and Libbie Barnett; and back row, coach Lori Burns, Kamryn Purintun, Jaelin Cortes, Amy Deatherage Mia Hartman and head coach Carma Reagan. On the mat, the team placed seventh with a score of 205.6. Reagan said the performance at state was an improvement over the previous weekend’s showing at the regional. Crossings Christian won the 4A state title with a 267, a total that would have also won the 5A and 6A titles as well. Weatherford was the state runner-up with a 234.6. Meanwhile, the Crescent squad won state and Cashion tied for runner-up in their class. See stories on Page 6. [Photo provided]
