Lomega, Dover runners tackle Timberlake meet
Some Kingfisher County runners headed northwest last weekend for a final tune-up for the cross country postseason.
The Lomega girls placed second as a team in the Nathan Thompson Memorial Cross Country Meet at Timberlake High School.
Lomega notched 39 points, second only to Laverne’s 14.
Laverne is ranked No. 1 in Class A while Lomega is ranked fourth.
The Lady Raiders were paced by Claire Myers’ fifth-place finish as she completed the twomile course in 13:29.
Four seconds and two spots behind her was teammate Gracie Sawyer.
Also placing in the top 20 were Joann Bilger, who was 15th, and Olivia Landreth, right behind her in 16th.
Hunter Russell led the Lomega boys contingent as he was seventh overall in that 5,000 meter race.
He finished in 18:08. Lomega placed fifth as a team with 93 points.
Running as an individual - and medaling - was Dover’s Nicklas Spradlin.
He crossed in 18:52 to place 15th overall.
