• STATE OF THE CITY: City Manager Jim Thomas and Mayor Geoff Covalt will address the public during a “state of the city” luncheon. It will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Pioneer’s Engineering Conference Center, 315 E. Robberts. The lunch is free, but RSVP is required.

Hennessey’s 522 ambulance district board members opted for the Town of Hennessey Board of Trustees to continue operating, and paying for, ambulance services for the town, for now.The board held its first meeting Wednesday at the Hennessey Fire Department.

Voters in Kingfisher County who want absentee ballots mailed to them for the Aug. 25 primary runoff election should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Shawna Fulks said.Absentee ballots are available to all registered voters, provided they are eligible to vote in the election requested.

Another infrastructure upgrade is set to take place in Kingfisher over the next three months.A contractor is set to begin work this week to replace 19 “non-operational” fire hydrants in city limits.The City of Kingfisher provided a map that shows the project area in which those hydrants are located.

Brian and Liz Walter recently erected a decorative bench honoring Brian’s father on the west side of the swinging bridge in Kingfi sher Park.Bob Walter, served on the Kingfisher City Commission for over 13 years from 1960 until his untimely death due to a heart attack on July 1, 1973, at age of 47.
