AND THEY’RE OFF!!!

AND THEY’RE OFF!!!

What took hours to put together only took minutes to disappear. And that’s exactly what organizers wanted to see. The Kingfi sher Chamber of Commerce held its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday morning at the KHS football fi eld. Despite chilly temperatures, a blustery north wind and even some sprinkles, hundreds of youngsters collected 3,800 eggs and wasted no time in doing so. The event started at 10 a.m. and four different age groups took turns collecting their eggs. By 10:21, every egg had been picked up. On top of all the preparation and organization for the event itself, chamber staff and some 22 community volunteers took 2 1/2 hours to stuff each and every egg. Then, early Saturday morning, chamber staff and members of the chamber board took another 1 1/2 hours to place the eggs on the fi eld. Those eggs were gone in minutes. Among those scooping up the eggs were, bottom row, from left: Ellie VanCleave, who is 1 1/2 years old; Banks Smith, who is 3 years old; and 6-year-old Loy Broomfi eld. [KT&FP Staff Photos]
