Bid approved to equip Omega FD truck

By

Kingfisher County commissioners Monday approved the low bid from Northwest Fabrication LLC of $124,350, as recommended by Fire Chief B.J. Waeger, to equip a new brush truck for the Omega Fire Department.

Four bids were opened a week earlier on the project.

Waeger said previously that he expected the truck to be ready for service by the start of the county’s 2026 wheat harvest.

The Omega Fire Department was gifted the truck, on which the firefi ghting equipment is to be installed, from the Oklahoma Forestry Service.

Commissioners also approved changes on two county blacktop projects and accepted the bid of Midwest Printing Co. of Sapulpa.

Election Board Secretary Shauna Butts recommended Midwest Printing, which has provided satisfactory service in the past and was 1 cent lower per ballot on the ballots the county election board requires 8.5 by 14 inches.

Commissioners approved the following road work changes, adding one mile of chip and seal work on N2870 Road, from E630 Road to E640 Road in District 2 and additional tack coat on a road near Big Four, east of Kingfisher, in District 1 where a new stop sign was installed.

Payments of $18,750 to Brown Engineering and $121,647,50 to Denali Plumbing for a water line replacement for Kingfisher County Rural Water District #3 regarding a REAP grant reimbursement received approval.

Commissioners also added Sheriff Aaron Pitts as requisition officer for all 911 emergency calling service accounts and added Katrina Hertensen as a second receiving officer.

The sheriff’s department has been placed in charge of the 911 service following the resignation of Emergency Management Director Ryan Deatherage.

Commissioners voted to not add a shared leave policy to the county handbook as discussed at an earlier meeting due to state statute conflicts.

A county bridge inspection invoice of $49.46 from CED #8, along with a report for inspections received approval and payment of a $935.06 October purchase card payment also received approval.

Under announcements, Chairman Anthony Schwarz reported the courthouse and all county offices, would be closed Tuesday for Veterans Day, District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss said all commissioners would attend a Circuit Engineering District #8 board meeting on Wednesday and he would attend the Northern Oklahoma Development Authority (NODA) board meeting Thursday in Enid.

Commissioners Schwarz and Moss handled all actions due to the absence of District 2 Commissioner Michael Sparks.

Others present included Pitts; Butts and Deputy Jessica Sotelo from the Election Board; Bill Reitz, representing KCRWD #3; County Engineer Nik Smith; County Clerk Emily Lee, the official minute clerk; and Kingfisher citizen Kelly Buck.
