Bids opened for Omega FD brush truck install

By

Four companies submitted bids on a brush truck installation for Omega Fire Department were opened Monday at Kingfisher County commissioners weekly meeting.

Bids ranged from $124,350 to $214,000.

They included:

• Myder, LLC-$139,800;

• Jim’s Welding Service-$ 214,000;

• J and J Custom Fire Inc.-$175,000, and,

• Northwest Fabrication, LLC-$124,350.

Commissioners tabled final action until next week’s meeting to allow departmental review of the bids to assure they met specifications.

Commissioners authorized a right-of-way claim by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for purchase of right-of-way for a bridge replacement project west of Dover.

The county’s chip and seal program with Zyzer of Kingfisher was extended to June 30, 2026.

Chairman Anthony Schwarz explained that the extension is necessary to allow completion of road surfacing work already contracted. Chip and seal projects require 24 hours of temperature above 50 degrees to mature properly.

Commissioners also approved calling for sixmonth bids for road work in all districts for the first half of calendar year 2026.

Bids will be received in the office of County Clerk Emily Lee until Nov. 26 to be opened at the Dec. 1 commissioners meeting.

County Assessor Carrie Turner reported that she is interviewing a number of companies regarding a replacement for the assessor’s web page. The former contractor has dropped its contract. Turner said her primary concern is finding a contractor which does not charge for access to the page as many do.

“I don’t want Kingfisher County residents to have to pay for accessing it,” she said.

Turner said she hopes to have a company to recommend by next week’s meeting.

Right-of-ways for Glenn Energy Services were approved for five four-inch steel lines located at points starting two miles west of Kingfisher and extending two miles south and six miles west of that point in District 3.

Glenn Energy Services also received right-of-way approval for two pipeline road crossings in District 1 in the vicinity of six miles south and four miles east of Kingfisher.

All commissioners – Schwarz, District 3, chairman; Jeff Moss, District 1, vice-chairman, and Michael Sparks, District 2 – were present along with County Engineer Nik Smith, County Clerk Emily Lee, official minute clerk, B.J. Waeger, Omega Fire Chief; CED#8 Manager Donnie Head, County Assessor Turner and citizen visitor Kelly Buck.
