City commission handles routine agenda

By

City commissioners worked through a basic agenda last Monday for their February regular meeting.

The commissioners approved several measures, which included allowing the Kingfisher Public Works Authority to attempt to receive grant funding for water utility improvements and also contracting for city streets to be mapped and assessed for future surfacing and repair projects.

The city will work with TEIM Design, PLLC, an engineering firm out of Edmond.

Steve Manek of the company presented the commissioners with an overview of how the project would proceed in the near future.

The commissioners also approved the continued contract with SRB, LLC, an engineering firm, for its work with the ongoing long-range capital improvement project that was begun several months ago.

The commissioners also approved the purchase of 175 cellular hub members at the cost of $42,156 for the ongoing improvements to the city’s meter reading capabilities.

Also approved was the repair of a GE AC generator engine, which caught fire over three years ago.

City Manager Jim Thomas said finding a company to successfully meet the repair requirements had been a challenge, but he was confident that for the cost of $26,474, the city would soon have the 70-year-old generator up and running again.

Joining Thomas in being present for the meeting were Mayor Geoff Covalt, Vice Mayor Jeff Wittrock and commissioners Dawn Taylor and Debbie Burpo.

Commissioner Kyle Mecklenburg was unable to attend.

Also present at the meeting were City Attorney Jared Harrison, City Clerk Brittney Hladik and City Treasurer Anita James.

The next scheduled meeting for the commissioners is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 10.
