Collision claims life of Norman man
Accident west of Kingfisher closes down S.H. 33 for more than 8 hours
A Norman teenager died Wednesday in an automobile accident that shut down a portion of State Highway 33 for more than eight hours.
Pronounced dead from injuries suffered in the accident was Kaleb B. Parsons, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The report stated the accident occurred just after 1 p.m. on S.H. 33 near County Road N2820, which is about two miles west of Kingfisher.
The driver in the commercial motor vehicle that collided with Parsons’ vehicle was Matthew J. Waguespack, 27, of Broken Arrow.
One official at the scene said Parsons was driving a three-quarter ton pickup- truck and Waguespack a semi-truck and that the pickup veered into the lane of the semi, which caused the collision.
The report stated Parsons was not wearing a seatbelt, but Waguespack, who was injured in the accident, was wearing one.
Traffic was detoured around the scene of the accident until almost 9:30 p.m.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene, but the report didn’t state which person was flown out.
There were no passengers in either vehicle, according to the report. ( Editor’s note: New reports provided by the OHP now contain considerably less information than those of years past, making limited information about injury and fatality accidents available.)
