Commissioners select jail trust members

By

A new board of directors for the Kingfisher County Jail Trust Authority was named Monday at the Kingfisher County Commissioners weekly meeting.

The new board members are Kyle Glazier of Loyal, Tom Kloeppel of Kingfisher, Don Haney of Hennessey, Sheriff Aaron Pitts and District 3 County Commissioner Anthony Schwarz.

They replaced the former board of James Matousek of Hennessey, Jerry Copeland of Kingfisher, Jim Simmons of Cashion and Kyle Mecklenberg of Kingfisher.

The board will oversee operations of the county jail, taking a significant amount of that burden off the county sheriff’s slate.

The board consists of the two county employees as well as a citizen from each of the county’s three districts.

Commissioners also opened and tabled three bids on a new bridge in District 1 – located on North 2860 Road north of East 840 Road.

Bids were opened from the following:

•Haskell Lemon – $298,594;

•Railroad Yard – $78,500, and,

•HornandSon,$95,000. The board also elected District 2 Commissioner Michael Sparks to continue as the county’s representative on the Circuit Engineering District No. 8 board of directors with District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss as alternative (to attend meetings when Sparks is unable to attend).

A change in the 2026 asphalt overlay program was approved. The change on the bid specifications calls for a new asphalt overlay in Districts 1(west of Cashion) and District 3 (west of Loyal).

A new contract with CED # 8 received approval for the coming year.

Commissioners also approved a change in county treasurer’s office adding Lindsey Shimanek as a signer on on the county official bank accounts and also to change to name of Caitlyn Fuller to her married name of Caitlin Weibelt on receiving officials for the treasurer’s office as well as making the same change of name for the county general and official bank accounts.

Commissioners approved the BOCC meeting schedule for F.Y. 2026, coinciding with its current schedule – 9 a.m. each Monday except when that date conflicts with a designated county holiday.

In that case the meeting will be held on the ensuing Tuesday.
