Early voting for Cashion bond starts Thursday
Early voting begins this week for voters in Kingfi sher County who will be casting ballots for the bond issue for Cashion Public Schools.
Those living within the school district are being asked to cast a ballot for a $39.3 million bond issue.
The Cashion Board of Education called for the election as the school district’s enrollment numbers continue to soar.
Projections have Cashion’s enrollment, which has grown by more than 250 in the last 10 years, to explode by 700 to 1,000 more students over the next decade.
If approved, the bond issue will provide several changes to allow for growth, most notably a 30,000 square-foot addition to the high school.
Bond issues must be approved by a super majority, meaning 60 percent.
Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day – Tuesday, Feb. 11 – have the option of voting early. “You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early. Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted by the County Election Board or State Election Board – from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections,” said County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts.
“This is a great option for those who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines.”
Early voting is available Thursday, Feb. 6, and Friday, Feb. 7, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Mac-Center Building located at 300 S. 13th St.
Butts reminds voters that early voting is not available at polling locations.
Some voters may need assistance to vote because they are blind or visually disabled, physically disabled or infirmed, or illiterate.
Such individuals may request to have an assistant or vote privately and independently using the ATI device attached to the voting device.
Those who require assistance should talk to their precinct official or contact the County Election Board directly for instructions.
