Filing begins for municipal offices

By

Six people had filed for various municipal offices as of press time of this edition.

A majority of them were for the two trustee positions open in Hennessey.

Filing began Monday and ran through 5 p.m. Wednesday for positions in Kingfisher, Hennessey and Dover.

Two candidates had filed for a two-year unexpired term on the Hennessey Board of Trustees: Frank Patton and John Peach.

Another three - Harold Shaw, David O. Jones and Tim Riddle - had filed for the two seats that have four-year terms.

Shaw is currently the mayor and is joined by Jones in being incumbents to their seats.

Also open in Hennessey is the office of town treasurer, which is currently held by Shelley Burch.

There had been no filings for that office by press time.

There were also no filings for the seat on the Kingfisher City Commission.

The office is currently held by Vice Mayor Jeff Wittrock, who told the KT&FP that he plans to run again for the seat.

The only other filing in Kingfisher County was for one of the seats on the Dover Board of Trustees.

Rena Walters filed for a seat Tuesday morning.

There are four seats open this cycle in Dover, two of which are four-year terms and the others two-year unexpired terms.

Candidates had until 5 p.m. Wednesday to file for offices in the county.

Those seeking a seat on the Okarche Board of Trustees must file with the Election Board Office in Canadian County.
