CTTC recognizes Pioneer, partner schools at appreciation banquet

By
STRONG PARTNERS – Chisholm Trail Technology Center named Pioneer Telephone Cooperative as its Business Partner of the Year during an appreciation banquet last week. Accepting the plaque for Pioneer was General Manager Blake Callaham (third from right).

Chisholm Trail Technology Center hosted its annual appreciation banquet last Wednesday evening with a packed house in attendance at the CTTC campus in western Kingfi sher County.

Pioneer Telephone Cooperative was recognized as CTTC’s Business Partner of the Year during the event.

Pioneer General Manager Blake Callaham was presented with a plaque by CTTC Small Business Manager Dan Craig.

Kurt Thomas, CTTC superintendent, updated the group on CTTC’s plans to begin electrical trades and construction trades programs in August.

He referenced the new facilities currently under construction on the east side of the property, which will house the electrical trades program along with an expanded welding trades program.

He said the construction trades program will be housed in the current welding trades building, which was built in 2018.

Thomas noted that even though classes won’t begin until August, enrollment for the two new programs were half full and he was confident both would be at full capacity when classes begin.

Thomas said all classes at CTTC were at or nearly at full capacity, with most of the students coming from partner schools of Kingfi sher, Watonga, Thomas-Fay-Custer, Lomega and Dover.

He said adults are also enrolled in the programs.

Superintendents of those partner schools were in attendance and were introduced, as were all administration and trade program instructors.

Other trade classes at CTTC not referenced previously include: automotive service technology, cabinetry, cosmetology, digital technologies, health career certification, information technology and networking, practical nursing, pre-engineering, business and industry services.

All instructors of those programs were also in attendance and introduced.

Also introduced were Candyce Myers, student services coordinator; Dan Craig, small business manager; and CTTC board of education members Rondi Andrews, Debbie Biehler, Dustin Brodrick, Jeff Hyatt and Loren Parham.

The invocation and welcome was given by Randy Overton, pre-engineering and math instructor and Bill Taylor, CTTC principal and site director.

Burlap Napkin catering of Thomas provided the meal for the banquet.
