Halloween events start this weekend
A bounty of trick or treating and fall festivities await all the little monsters, superheroes and cool characters this Halloween season.
Starting this weekend and running through Halloween, area churches, businesses and organizations will host a variety of events offering free food, candy, costume contests and all kinds of fun.
The following is a list of some of the activities available:
Sunday, Oct. 26
Kingfisher County OSU Extension Family Fright Night at Kingfisher County Fairgrounds MACenter Carnival: 2-3 p.m. with games and prizes, pumpkin decorating contest (bring an already decorated pumpkin to be judged) Costume contest: 3-4 p.m. (age divisions from newborn to adult with prizes given for funniest, best, most original and scariest costumes) Admission by donation.
First Christian Church, 102 S. Seventh St., 4 - 6 p.m. Inflatables and bounce house on northwest side of church lawn, with hotdogs, chips, drinks and cookies, followed by trunk or treat in back parking lot.
LifeWay Church, 1900 S. 13th St., 5 - 7:30 p.m.
Fall Festival with trunk Federated Church, 400 W. Fay Ave. , Trunk or Treat, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Sts. Peter and Paul Youth Group Food Drive, 6-8 p.m. - Youth will be going door to door throughout Kingfisher to collect non-perishable for the Kingfi sher County Food Bank.
Friday, Oct. 31
Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce/City of Kingfisher - downtown trick or treat, 4-5 p.m. (children will walk the same direction as traffic) Townwide trick or treat, 5-8 p.m. (porch light indicates home is open to visitors) Sonic Drive-In, 1201 S. Main St., Halloween costume contest, 5-6 p.m. (age groups: newborn - 2 years old, 3-5 years old, 6-10 years old; prizes awarded in each age group) free trick or treat bags and 50-cent corndogs.
Nazarene Church, 414 Hill Drive, Trunk or Treat, 5-6:30 p.m. candy, inflatables, free hot dogs, chips, and drink.
Donate to the Kingfisher County Food Bank and be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift card.
First Assembly of God, 900 W. Will Rogers Drive, Fall Fest, 6-8:30. Free family event features games, hot dogs, drinks, candy, inflatables.
The Chisholm, 605 Zellers Ave., Haunt the Hill, 5-7 p.m. A free family- friendly event featuring trick or treating and a child-friendly haunted mansion walk through. Ghouls, ghosts, and costumed children of all ages will receive awesome treats. (We hear there will be fullsize candy bars for the first 200 trick-or-treaters.)
