Has your property value increased?

If so, you could receive notice this week

By

The Kingfisher County asssessor began mailing out notices of increase in valuation of real property late last week.

Assessor Carrie Turner said the notices were set to be mailed either Friday or Saturday to Kingfisher County residents.

“This notice is to inform you that your property value has increased in value,” Turner said.

“It is not a bill, but will give you an estimate of what your property tax will be for December 2025 based on last year’s school levy.”

Turner noted that property taxes can increase or decrease if school levies change.

She also said fair cash value can only increase 3 to 5 percent each year until the current fair cash value is reached “if you have no new improvements.”

Residents have 30 days from the date of their notice to protest the assessed value.

“Please contact the assessor’s office if you would like to discuss your assessed value,” Turner said.

She added that property owners who do not receive a notice didn’t see an increase in property value.

“We have been updating our land values in accordance with the Oklahoma Tax Commission,” Turner said. “ Therefore, it is possible you will see an increase in your land value.”
