KINGFISHER CITY CLERK Brittney Hladik, second from left, was named Volunteer of the Year at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet. She was nominated by City Manager Jim Thomas, left. Joining them are Chamber Executive Director Shauna Rupp and board membe

Brittney Hladik has a fulltime job in which she serves the citizens of Kingfisher.

She also has a full-time passion in which she serves - and provides - those who need it the most.

That passion led to Hladik being announced as the 2025 Volunteer of the Year on Monday during the 86th Kingfi sher Chamber of Commerce Banquet at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds.

“In watching this individual the last 18 months in my capacity, this person’s desire to improve the economic challenges of underprivileged children and families is a credit to herself, her family and the organizations she represents,” said City Manager Jim Thomas in announcing Hladik as the winner.

Thomas nominated her for the honor and said she “has demonstrated a commitment to volunteering community service outside her normal assignments within our organization.”

Hladik has been the city clerk for six years, but has spent longer than that working with Kingfisher Community Collaborative.

She was a longtime board member before becoming the KCC director about seven years ago.

Part of her duties also see her serve as the coordinator for Santa’s Toyland in Kingfi sher County, which helps provide Christmas gifts to underserved families.

“This nominee has made a positive difference in the lives of 251 children and 81 families with the 2024 Santa’s Toyland drive,” Thomas said. “This was a record year in serving the families and children in Kingfisher.”

Thomas noted the annual golf scramble that Hladik organizes to help raise funds for Santa’s Toyland and other fundraising efforts.

He mentioned the other services KCC provides locally such as free backpacks and school supplies to those who qualify, the KCC Dental Day and Health Resource Fair and “many other activities to support a better quality of life for the children and families of Kingfisher.”

And, said Thomas, she does the work selflessly.

“This nominee does not seek limelight or notoriety, as is custom in today’s society,” Thomas said. “She works tirelessly to quietly get the job done.”

She is a big reason, Thomas concluded, Kingfi sher is a great place to live.

“I can think of no other nominee who has demonstrated an enthusiastic attitude about our community with love and passion and therefore deserving this day,” he said.

“This individual promotes our city as a place to raise your family and to enjoy a quality of life and reflects positive values which are the hallmark of Kingfisher.”
