KPS suspends, reinstates FFA advisor
District makes initial move Monday, reverses Tuesday after investigation
In back-to-back days, Kingfi sher Public Schools suspended and then reinstated one of its FFA advisors.
Tyler Gradert, an agriculture education teacher and co-FFA advisor for the chapter, was suspended by the district on Monday, pending an investigation.
“He has been suspended and we’ll be following the law exactly as we’re supposed to with the next steps,” confirmed Superintendent Andy Evans Tuesday morning to the KT&FP. “We are working hard to bring things to a resolution.”
That resolution came quickly. By Tuesday afternoon, Evans said Gradert’s suspension was being lifted as of 3 p.m.
“We completed our investigation and he is no longer suspended,” Evans told the KT&FP.
While schools are limited in what they can discuss regarding personnel investigations, Evans did note that Gradert’s suspension was not rooted in any alleged criminal misconduct.
“This deals with school and state policy, which we are following,” Evans said.
Gradert has been with the district since June 2019.
He was one of two advisors hired that month to replace Ryan and Lori Burns, who had resigned after developing the chapter into one of the premier programs in the state.
Also hired that spring was Megan (Thormodsgard) Mueggenborg. Mueggenborg left in June 2023 to take the same position at Lomega.
KPS hired Stefanie (Wolf) Godde to replace Mueggenborg.
Godde remains with the district as students are preparing for a busy stretch of stock shows.
The Kingfisher County Spring Livestock Show begins this weekend.
That will be followed closely by the Northwest District Junior Livestock Show in Enid and then the Oklahoma Youth Expo at the State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.
