Low bid approved for bridge replacement

By

Kingfisher County commissioners approved the low bid for a bridge replacement contract in District 1, a new plat for a housing development at Cashion and a tract of land from the town of Hennessey for the District 2 shop in a 10-minute meeting Monday.

Commissioners accepted the bid of Railroad Yard of Stillwater, totaling $78,500, to build a bridge on North 2816 Road, north of EW Road 840, on motion of District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss.

Other bids were received from Horn and Son Construction totaling $95,000 and Haskell Lemon, $298,594.

Commissioners voted unanimously to accept an eight-acre tract of land adjoining the District 2 shop in Hennessey on motion of District 2 Commissioner Mike Sparks as well as an inter-local agreement, providing a continual point of communication between the entities.

Sparks said earlier that the extra land was needed to park the district’s road construction equipment.

The action in District 1 approved the Magnolia Estates Phase 2 plat located one mile west and one mile north of Cashion.

Additionally, commissioners approved a 16-inch fresh water pipeline county road crossing for Ovintiv at two locations in District 3, one five miles west and one mile south of Loyal and another three miles south and three miles west of Loyal.

Chairman Anthony Schwarz announced that the courthouse would be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.

All commissioners were present – Schwarz, Sparks and Moss – along with County Clerk Emily Lee as official minute clerk, Sheriff Aaron Pitts and Kingfisher citizen guest Kelly Buck.
