Okarche only county town to see sales tax bump
Only the town of Okarche had a larger sales tax check for the month of December compared to December 2024, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
The December 2025 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from October business.
Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.
The monies they reported this period represent sales from Oct. 16 to Oct. 31 and estimated sales from Nov. 1 to Nov 15.
The disbursement of $203,398,649 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $7,231,736 from the $210,630,385 distributed to them in December last year.
The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $56,433,502.
All county entities showed gains in use tax, the report showed. Use tax is levied on products purchased out-of-state for use in-state.
It includes oil company purchases, a reflection of petroleum drilling activities, as well as goods pur-chased from national retail outlets. Loyal does not levy a use tax.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $36,438,582 sales tax disbursement and $10,854,610 in a use tax disbursement.
The sales tax losses could reflect an earlier cutoff date for tax collections for the monthly report.
