American Legion Post 5 Commander Mark Kirchner would like to invite any and all to attend the inaugural Kingfisher flag retirement ceremony this weekend on Flag Day.

It will be held at the new flag pole at Newfield Community Park at 7:45 p.m. (dusk) Saturday, June 14.

The flag pole is located on the east side of the band shell.

Post 5 will be dedicating the brand new flag pole to the park, followed by the flag retirement ceremony.

“All are encouraged to bring any flags that are no longer fit for service to be properly disposed of,” Kirchner said.

The ceremony will be concluded with a moment of silence followed by the playing of Taps.
