‘Critical’ work needed on Hennessey sanitary sewers
An evaluation of the Town of Hennessey’s wastewater collection system shows that $3.09 million in “critical (immediate)” work is necessary and another $3.326 million in shortterm (1-5 years) is also needed.
They “must be addressed immediately because they are imperative to current operations of the system and /or have exceeded their treatment capacity,” the engineering report shows.
That’s the upshot of an 18-page report for a study and improvement plans given Hennessey Utilities Authority members at their Thursday night, April 13, meeting. The next step is for the HUA to ask for Oklahoma Water Resources Board funding through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and also apply for a Community Development Block Grant and “local funding,” the report shows.
Authority members are the same as the Hennessey Board of Trustees and met after that meeting: Mayor Clif Vogt, Trustees Bert Gritz, Harold Shaw, David Jones and new member Randy Bohnstedt.
Engineering Recommendations
The report was prepared by Cowan Group Engineering after the town was awarded a $250,000 grant through the OWRB for the study and improvement plans.
Cowan recommends the town begin replacement of approximately 12,900 linear feet of new sanitary sewer, 20 new manholes and rehabilitation of 18 manholes with cementitious coating for a cost of $2,425,212 utilizing the Clean Water State Revolving Fund administered through the OWRB.
An added 20% contingency fund of $515,043 brings that to $3,090,257.
