‘Dirty Jobs’ host Rowe expected to film episode of new mini-series in Kingfisher
The host of “Dirty Jobs” will be in Kingfisher next week to film part of his latest television mini-series.
Mike Rowe, who also lends his voice to the popular show “Deadliest Catch,” is slated to be filming in Kingfisher July 28-29.
His latest project is called “The Story Behind the Story” and is based on his popular podcast “The Way I Heard It.”
The new mini-series is filmed in conjunction with Impact Productions and Trinity Broadcast Network.
The production team wrapped up principal photography of the second season of the show in May and was immediately green-lit for a third season, now in production.
This week, Rowe and team are scheduled to shoot in the Bartlesville area.
“It’s a huge production,” said Jonathan Coussens, director.
“We’ll have a few hundred people along with our animals out in the heat. Hopefully we can keep cool.”
Coussens said the cast and crew totals about 500 for the entirety of the series.
About 40 to 50 people are expected to converge on Kingfisher for the local production.
“This television series is one of Oklahoma’s largest television productions this year,” Coussens said.
He added that this season has 13 episodes that span the course of 100-plus years.
“In each episode, we bring to life extraordinary true stories of genuine American heroes,” Coussens said. “We cover all types of people. Everything from the founding fathers to rock and roll icons to Martin Luther King, Jr.” Coussens says.
Shooting for the episode locally will feature stories based on Gene Simmons of Kiss and former presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and Gerald Ford.
The mini-series airs every Saturday at 7 p.m. on Trinity Broadcasting Network.
Rowe’s podcast, “The Way I Heard It,” is the inspiration for the television series and consistently ranking in the top 20 of Apple podcast Society and Culture genre.
Each episode is a true story about a real person, place, or thing.
“With respect to the facts, I try to be as accurate as possible,” Rowe said.
“However, the internet is full of conflicting accounts, and it’s entirely possible you might hear me say something about a person or an event that contradicts something you heard or read elsewhere. If so, feel free to bring any discrepancy to my attention. Just remember – I’m not wrong. It’s just the way I heard it…”
