‘Fourth Friday’ first summer park event

While last week’s onset of 100-degree temps suggest otherwise, summer doesn’t officially begin until Tuesday.

Three days later is the first official summer event at Kingfisher Park – Fourth Friday in the Park, sponsored by Kingfisher Community Collaborative.

This free family event runs from 6:30-8 p.m. and includes activities, informational booths sponsored by local businesses and organizations and food trucks.

“We are focusing on a fun way to highlight physical activity and nutrition in a tobacco-free environment that allows friends and families to spend quality time locally,” Blair Coughlan, event chairperson, said.

Facepainting with Melody Kuehn, a birdfeeder craft taught by local Girl Scouts and food demonstrations by the Kingfisher County OSU Extension Office will be available throughout the evening.

Scheduled activities include:

•6:30 p.m. – Dance2Fit with Chelsea Stewart and a group walk with volunteers from the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust.

•6:45 p.m. – Live music with Casey Jackson and Carolyn Swisher.

•7:30 p.m. – Tai chi with Tracie Verkler.

•8:15 p.m. – Yoga with Angela Rose and kids yoga with Jennifer Demas.

“We’ll have plenty of fun activities to keep the whole family busy, but please don’t drop children off unattended,” Coughlan said.
