‘Great crowd’ gathers for museum event
Bigger, better Chuck Wagon Gathering sees visitors from at least six states
More wagons.
More live animals. Visitors from at least five other states.
All of that was featured Saturday at the Chisholm Trail Museum’s annual Chuck Wagon Gathering.
“While we got off to a chilly start, we had a great crowd to join us for our event,” said Jason Harris, executive director of the museum.
Now ranking as one of the largest chuck wagon gatherings in the state, Harris said the Kingfisher event not only had visitors from across Oklahoma, but also from Arkansas, Texas, Wyoming and Missouri.
They experienced a day of live music, cooking demonstrations, food samples, gunfights, Wild West show performers and the Straka longhorns among other event features.
The event was free thanks largely to community donations.
Also, with limited parking, Kingfisher Public Schools provided transportation shuttles.
“If it weren’t for sponsorships, local businesses, the support of the community and entities like KPS, our event would not have been possible,” Harris said.
“We hope to continue growing this event and hope to see everyone at our summer concert series.”
