The filing period for the District 3 seat of the Kingfisher County Commission began this week.

As of press time, two people had filed for the position: Anthony Schwarz, who is currently the interim commissioner, and Brandi Fuxa, both of Okarche.

The filing period ran through 5 p.m. Wednesday (after press time of this edition).

The seat became vacant when Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny announced his resignation, effective April 19.

By law, Governor Kevin Stitt had to call for a special election to fill the seat.

That election will be Aug. 27.
