3 county towns higher in December sales tax report
Hennessey, Cashion and Loyal enjoyed increases in their sales tax checks in December compared to December 2022, the Oklahoma Tax Commission reports.
The tax commission collects and distributes sales taxes for cities and counties as well as the state.
The December 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from October business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from October 16 to 31 and estimated sales from Nov 1 to 15.
The disbursement of $196,553,716 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $905,686 from the $197,459,402 distributed to them in December last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $38,996,930.
In county returns, the counties shared in $ 32,375,587 sales tax disbursements and $7,435,286 in use tax disbursements.
Use tax, which is collected at the same rate as each entity’s sales tax for purchases made out of state for delivery within the state, comparisons follow with the 2023 amount listed first:

Crescent – $11,619.28 and $10,540.20.
Dover – $2,676.84 and $4,140.71.
Hennessey – $22,282.71 and $19,066.21.
