3 Kordis siblings in tractor pull nationals
Three members of the Kordis family are headed to the national competition for the 4-H tractor pedal pull. Participating this weekend at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D., are (from left), Julia Kordis, Joseph Kordis and William Kordis. The children of John and Sarah Kordis of Cashion, the trio earned a spot at nationals with their showing during the state competition held Sept. 9 at the Cleveland County Fair in Norman. Julia won first place among 4-year-old girls. Joseph was second place among 8-year-old boys and William was second in the 9-year-old boys division. In the competition, kids pedal a tractor as far as they can while a weight mechanism in the back adds more weight the farther the child goes. Depending on the age, a competitor can pull up to 100 pounds. This is William’s second year to qualify for the national competition. [Photo provided]
