3 towns, county higher in July sales tax report

July sales tax checks were higher for Kingfisher, Hennessey and Cashion along with Kingfisher County, according to the monthly report of the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

The July 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from May business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from May 16-31 and estimated sales

The disbursement of $203,202,715 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $8,545,831 from the $194,656,884 distributed to them in July last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $34,676,330.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $34,613,200 sales tax disbursement and a $6,495,759 use tax disbursement.

The report also showed the following amounts of use tax (that’s collected on purchases made out-ofstate for delivery within entities) as follow for selected municipalities [the July 2023 amounts are listed first followed by the July 2022 totals]: Kingfisher–$39,291.26 and 85,274.17.

Hennessey – $15,793.42 and $15,293.72.

Cashion – $11,799.30 and $12,683.81.

Crescent – $1,763.18 and $2,437.21.

Dover – $3,601.19 and $7,138.12.

Okarche – $21,842.65 and $15,061.90.

Kingfisher County $63,706.03 and $68,276.06.
