By

Four Kingfisher County towns received larger sales tax checks in February than in February 2023 – Hennessey, Cashion, Okarche and Dover.

The February 2024 distribution of sales tax collections announced by the Oklahoma Tax Commission, which collects and remits sales tax for local entities as well as state government, primarily represents local tax receipts from December business.

Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Dec. 16 to Dec. 31 and estimated sales from Jan. 1 to Jan. 15.

The statewide disbursement of $203,878,986 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $752,956 from the $203,126,030 distributed to them in February last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $43,945,892.

In county returns, the counties shared in $33,726,343 sales tax disbursements and $8,459,895 in use tax disbursements.
