87-year-old Dover man dies following post office crash
An 87-year-old Dover man whose pickup truck crashed into the Dover Post Office last Thursday later died from his injuries at OU Medical Center, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
William F. “Frank” Farrar pulled into the Dover Post Office parking lot about 3 p.m. Thursday when his 2008 Dodge 2500 pickup truck jumped the curb and drove into the northeast side of the post office, according to the OHP.
Before OHP arrived on the scene, Farrar was flown by Air Evac to OU Medical Center where he later died about 11 p.m.
The OHP reported that Farrar was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but the cause of the accident was not known.
The accident was investigated by OHP Trooper Donald Kraft of the Major County detachment of Troop J, assisted by Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office, Kingfisher County EMS and Air Evac.
••• OHP investigated another injury accident about 4 a.m. Monday about 6.2 miles west of Okarche.
Oscar U. Melgar, 25, was transported by Kingfisher EMS to Mercy Hospital Kingfi sher and then later transfered to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City by Miller EMS of Cashion, where he was admitted in stable condition with a head injury.
Melgar was traveling east on Northwest 248th Street when his 2016 Toyota Tundra departed the roadway to the left at County Road N 2750, swerved back to the roadway and then left the road again to the right, entering a broadslide and rolling two times before landing on its wheels in the south ditch.
The OHP report alleges Melgar was driving while intoxicated.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Lane Gossen of the Kingfisher County detachment of Troop J, assisted by Trooper Trent Cagle, the county sheriff’s office, Kingfi sher EMS, Miller EMS, and Okarche Fire Department.
