9county students participating in 56th Distinguished Young Women program
Eight Kingfisher High School students and one Lomega High School student are participating in the 56th annual Kingfisher County Distinguished Young Women program this weekend.
DYW of Kingfisher County is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women.
Participants are evaluated by an independent panel of judges who award cash scholarships in categories that include scholarship, talent, fitness, poise and interview, plus additional awards.
The overall winner of the county event advances to the state program.
This year’s local participants include: Libbie Barnett, KHS, the daughter of Fay and Tiffanie Barnett, will play a piano medley. Barnett plans to pursue a nursing degree at Oklahoma State University and then attend law school.
Abby Swart, LHS, the daughter of Richard and Karen Swart, will perform a jazz dance entitled “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know.” Swart plans to attend OSU and become a dental hygienist.
Chloe Blair, KHS, the daughter of David and Shelley Blair, will sing “Rolling in the Deep,” while accompanying herself on the piano. Blair plans to pursue a degree in business finance and administration.
ZayLynn Lopez, KHS, the daughter of Robert and Amy Rodd, will sing “Lift Me Up.” She plans to pursue a career in cosmetology and real estate.
age the daughter of Dana Boutwell and the late Donovan Boutwell, will be singing “Smile.” She plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in marketing.
Breonna McConnell,
KHS, the daughter of Eric and Lisa McConnell, will sing. She plans to become a medical doctor.
Peyton Walker, KHS, the daughter of Charles and Julie Walker, will demonstrate her basketball handling. She plans to play college basketball while pursuing a degree in education.
Raechel Evans, KHS, the daughter of Chris and Cherie Evans, will sing “Heartaches.” She plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma to purse an education degree.
Kylie Hood, KHS, the daughter of SHane and Janet Hood, will present a prepared speech, “Freedom or Death.” She plans to attend OU and enter the medical field.
