Albert W. “Al” Post, 89, longtime Kingfisher County business, professional and faith leader, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher.

He was born Aug. 23, 1929, near Okarche to W.B. “Bill” and Sarah Gleichman Post.

He was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church. He was baptized as an infant at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Okarche and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher.

He was a long-time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, serving in several positions on the church council.

He began his education at St. John’s Lutheran School in Okarche, attending there his first five years before his family moved to the Big 4 community.

He completed his education at Big 4, graduating from high school in 1947.

He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

He returned to Kingfisher where he began a life-long career in accounting and other business interests.

He married Evelyn Copeland on March 21, 1953, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Early in his career, he was hired by Solomon Agency where he worked in the accounting division. He later acquired the accounting division as well as part interest in the insurance and abstract divisions of Solomon Agency.

Post was a licensed public accountant, enrolled agent , abstractor and title agent, serving over 50 years in the accounting division before his retirement in 2002.

He was active in professional organizations and served as auditor for many municipalities, schools and counties in the area.

He was a long-time financial advisor and budget maker for Kingfisher County.

He was past president of the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce, served on the advisory board of Kingfisher Regional Hospital and was a member of the board of directors of Kingfisher Federal Savings and Loan Association.

He remained active in farming throughout life.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of the home; son, David, and wife Paula; daughter Sheila Thomas and husband Max, all of Kingfisher; four grandchildren; five great granddaughters; sister, Dorothy Schroeder of Kingfisher, sisters-in-law, Margaret Hixon of Crescent, Carolyn Copeland of Kingfisher and Janet Copeland of Oklahoma City, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Raymond and Dennis; sisters-in-law Virginia Post and and Katherine Copeland; brothers-in-law, Alvin Schroeder, Eugene Copeland, Glen Copeland, Leonard Copeland and Don Hixon.
