AND THE WINNERS ARE. . . . HPS teachers Teresa Hugaboom and Amanda Luper
Two Hennessey Early Childhood Center teachers didn’t walk the Red Carpet at the Oscars Sunday night because they’d received their awards earlier. Pre-kindergarten teacher Teresa (Deutschendorf) Hugaboom (at left with ECC Principal Stacey Mack) was chosen a Top 10 Teacher of 2022 by the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board. Hugaboom, a pre-kindergarten teacher, was recognized during a Friday morning school program by OERB for her work on the school’s outdoor classroom. Hugaboom will receive $5,000 and the school $2,000. There were more than 200 nominations for the Top 10 in outstanding work and engaging students in science and STEM programs. Hugaboom has been teaching in Hennessey for 14 years and in Enid before that. She has a master’s in education, and a bachelor’s in elementary education, special ed, early childhood and English as a second language. Kindergarten teacher Amanda (Bossa) Luper (at right) received the DaVinci A+ Teacher of the Year title Friday evening at the Oklahoma History Center. She is pictured with her parents, Danny and Glenda Bossa of Hennessey, and her husband, Jonathan. Mack nominated her for the award and said Luper was presented an engraved medallion, certificate and a monetary gift during the DaVinci awards ceremony. Luper returned to her Hennessey hometown in 2020 to teach at ECC and had taught in Hennessey 2009-11. She taught at Mustang before moving back to Hennessey and has a 2008 bachelor’s in elementary education from Oklahoma State University. Both winners are HHS grads: Hugaboom in 1993 and Luper in 2005.
