The Keith Lowry-Henry Ellyson Post 5 of The American Legion will present its annual Memorial Day Service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Kingfisher Cemetery.

Commander John Bliss will serve as emcee and speaker for the event.

John Hopkins will be the chaplain and Vortex, an acapella quartet, will present a variety of patriotic songs.

Gladys Hopkins, Post 5 Auxiliary president, and Bliss will lay wreaths on the Kingfisher County Veterans Memorial.

Kenneth Tollison will command the post’s firing squad, which honors departed comrades.

Post members will also be placing flags on veterans’ graves beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28. All help is welcomed.

“We would welcome any help,” Bliss added.

Members of Memory Lane Inc. will be on hand at the cemetery gazebo Saturday through Monday handing out water and helping visitors locate the graves of loved ones.

The organization also will be accepting donations to help replace trees along Memory Lane, the treelined stretch of S.H. 33 between 13 th Street and the cemetery entrance.

Board members include Kim Stewart, president; Bonnie Armstrong, vice president; Beverly Moery, secretary; Karen Kochenower, treasurer; Debbie Baldwin, historian, and Tracy DeShazo, memory gifts secretary.
