Another year comes to a close for Cashion FFA

The Cashion FFA Chapter hosted its annual banquet May 13 to celebrate another busy and rewarding year. Starting with dinner in the school cafeteria at 6 p.m., FFA members helped serve guests brisket, mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw and apple cobbler for dessert.

The banquet began at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Master of Ceremonies and Cashion FFA President Madison Westerhoff began the night by initiating the opening ceremonies, which were performed by the current officer team. Jakob LaBlue delivered the welcome speech and the awards presentation started.

The top salesperson awards were presented to Maggie Carroll for the fall season and Jaxton Bailey- Casey for the spring season. FFA Proficiency Awards were presented to: Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication, Kyler Sylvester; Ag Service, Jaxton Bailey- Casey; Beef Production, Sadie Weaver; Diversified Horticulture, Addi Hood; Equine Science, Kiaser Stout; Service Learning, Maggie Carroll; Swine Production, Tinley Roberts; Fruit Production, Jackson Drake; Vegetable Production, Jackson Drake; Ag Communications, Jackson Drake.

Scholastic awards, given to FFA members who upheld a 4.0 average in their agricultural classes all year, were awarded to the following: Eighth Ag Orientation - Jaxton Bailey-Casey, Ashlynn Graham, Weston Kolar, Grace LaBlue, Leighton Nye, Tinley Roberts and Justin Travis.

Ag Science - Greyson Broadbent, Maggie Carroll, Colson Cotter, Maddox Gibson, Jud Graham, Jack Hardaway, Mason Hisey, Houston Jerry, Molly Mayes, Cash Nye, Nate Poindexter, Kiaser Stout and Mikaela Yandell.

Ag Power and Technology - Nolin Farrar, Hank Hudson, Jakob LaBlue, Garet McKeever, Colby Swickey, and Slade Williams.

Horticulture- Jackson Drake, Addi Hood, Dally Pedersen and Adalynne Poston.

Animal Science - Ethan Waswo and Madison Westerhoff.

Speciality awards were presented to deserving members who went above and beyond this year in FFA.

The Leadership Award was presented to Maggie Carroll. The Citizenship Award was presented to Hank Hudson. The Sportsmanship Award was presented to Nate Poindexter. The Workhorse Award was presented to Jakob LaBlue.

FFA members Sadie Weaver and Kyler Sylvester then announced the various FFA Degrees earned by members.

Fourteen FFA members received the Discovery FFA Degree, given to members in their first year of agricultural education.

Sixteen FFA members received the Greenhand FFA Degree and 16 FFA members were awarded the Chapter FFA Degree.

To recognize the Cashion FFA community leaders and supporters, certificates of appreciation were given to deserving recipients.

In addition, outstanding supporters Jerry Casey and Chantz Robinson were both awarded the Cashion FFA Honorary Degree for their countless contributions and involvement in the FFA chapter.

Star Greenhand FFA Degrees were presented to Maggie Carroll, Molly Mayes, Nate Poindexter and Kiaser Stout.

High School Principal Ryan Schenk then came to the stage and recognized Sadie Weaver as the winner of the Star Chapter Farmer Award, Kyler Sylvester as the winner of the Star Chapter Placement Award and Addi Hood as the winner of the Star Chapter Agribusiness Award.

In addition to those honors, Cashion FFA senior Madison Westerhoff was presented a $500 scholarship from the Cashion 4-H and FFA Booster Club.

Next, the individuals who competed in various Leadership and Career Development Events were recognized. They are the following: FFA Creed - Molly Mayes and Maggie Carroll Eighth Grade Team FFA Creed - Jaxton Bailey-Casey, Ashylnn Graham, Grace LaBlue, Leighton Nye and Tinley Roberts FFA Greenhand Quiz - Maggie Carroll, Jud Graham, Jack Hardaway, Molly Mayes, Cash Nye, Nate Poindexter and Kiaser Stout FFA Opening Ceremonies - Maggie Carroll, Jud Graham, Jack Hardaway, Molly Mayes, Cash Nye, Nate Poindexter and Kiaser Stout Prepared Public Speaking - Maggie Carroll and Addi Hood Floriculture - Jackson Drake, Addi Hood, Dally Pedersen, Adalynne Poston and Sadie Weaver Livestock Judging - Jaxton Bailey-Casey, Maggie Carroll, Nolin Farrar, Grace LaBlue, Dally Pedersen and Tinley Roberts FFA Quiz Bowl - Maggie Carroll, Jud Graham, Molly Mayes, Cash Nye, Kiaser Stout and Mikaela Yandell Employment Skills - Molly Mayes FFA Auctioneering - Jaxton Bailey-Casey Shotgun Shooting - Colson Cotter, Colin Farrar, Maddox Gibson, Ashlynn Graham, Mason Hisey, Hank Hudson, Houston Jerry, Grace LaBlue, Jakob LaBlue, Garet McKeever, Cash Nye, Nate Poindexter, Tinley Roberts, John Robinson, Colby Swickey, Kyler Sylvester, Kiaser Stout and Otto Trello Holly Drake, Cashion FFA advisor, took the stage and issued the following awards to our FFA members: • Top FFA Points - Maggie Carroll

• FFA Motivation Award for Growth - Adalynne Poston

• FFA Motivation Award for Attitude - Sadie Weaver Finally, a slideshow to commemorate graduating seniors Madison Westerhoff and Hank Hudson and showcase their accomplishments over the years was shown.

Additionally, their parents were called to the stage for recognition and senior plaques were presented.

In concluding the banquet, 2024-2025 FFA offi cers introduced the new FFA officer team for the upcoming school year.

The new officers are as follows: Dally Pedersen, president; Maggie Carroll, vice president; Adalynne Poston, secretary; Molly Mayes, reporter; Jackson Drake, sentinel; Addi Hood, parliamentarian; Jakob LaBlue, chaplain; and Kyler Sylvester, historian.
