By

Kingfisher County and five municipalities in Kingfisher County had gains in their April sales tax checks, according to the monthly report of the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

Kingfisher County’s April sales tax check totaled $644,039.10, up from $391,846.19 in April 2022.

The Oklahoma Tax Commission collects sales tax for counties, cities and towns in addition to the state sales tax.

The April 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from February business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from February 16 to 28 and estimated sales from March 1 to15.

The disbursement of $187,412,022 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $8,336,174 from the $179,075,848 distributed to them in April last year.

The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $32,463,162.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $31,960,378 sales tax disbursement and a $5,898,253 use tax disbursement.

Additionally, the tax commission collected use tax for the local entities, which is collected at the same rate as their sales tax for products purchased out of state for delivery within state.

Comparisons of April 2023 and April 2022 use tax checks for local entities follow with the April 2023 tax listed first: Cashion – $9,784.86 and $12,131.79.
