April sales tax was higher for four county towns with Dover at 71.6%, Hennessey at 35.2% and Okarche at 25.4 % leading the way.

The disbursement of $192,788,971 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $5,376,949 from the $187,412,022 distributed to them in April last year, the tax commission reported.

The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $31,935,335.

The April 2024 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from February business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Feb. 16 to Feb. 29 and estimated sales from March 1 to 15.

In county returns, the counties shared in $31,935,335 sales tax disbursements and $5,898,253 in use tax disbursements.

Additionally use tax collection comparisons for five area towns (Loyal does not levy a use tax) and use tax receipts for Kingfisher and Blaine counties follow with the April 2024 amount listed first and the 2023 amount listed second: (Note: Use tax is collected on items purchased out of state for delivery within the state. Oil company purchases for drilling materials has bumped up use tax collections considerably in Kingfisher County.)

Kingfisher – $56,171.22 and $61,413.12.

Hennessey – $22,109.63 and $24,697.43.

Cashion – $9,204.91 and $9,785.16.

Crescent –$9,232.21 and $6,807.33.

Dover – $3,134.92 and $8,218.87.

Okarche – $17,794.94 and $16,997.61 Kingfisher County – $53,250.29 and $79,725.98 Blaine County – $49,852.48 and $32,007.37.
