Area crash claims man’s life

By

One man was killed and another seriously injured last Monday in a two-vehicle accident south of Crescent.

Kim L. Flatt, 32, of Stroud, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Crescent Fire Department, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The report said Flatt was driving south on State Highway 74 in a 2016 Chevrolet Impala just after 1 p.m.

A 2014 Buick LaCrosse driven by Ralph C. Krehbiel, 71, of Enid, was northbound on the same highway, crossed the center line and collided with Flatt’s vehicle, according to the report.

It was still being investigated if either driver was wearing a seatbelt.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles, the report said. It also stated both drivers were pinned for an unknown amount of time before being freed by the Guthrie Fire Department.

Krehbiel suffered trunk and leg injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to OU Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation.

The report was filed by Trooper Michael Wallace of the Traffic Homicide Unit.
