Area ODOT jobs begin

By

Work begins on two area Oklahoma Department of Transportation projects this week, highway widening east of town and sidewalk repairs on South Main Street.

Eastbound and westbound S.H. 33 was narrowed to one lane Monday evening with a temporary traffic signal guiding traffic just west of S.H. 74F (the Cashion turnoff) for a widening and resurfacing project.

One-lane traffic will continue through spring for that section of roadway as work progresses.

Motorists can expect future lane closures this summer on eastbound and westbound S.H. 33 between the Cashion turnoff and MacArthur Boulevard, just west of the S.H. 74 intersection in Logan County.

Wide loads are restricted through the work zone and motorists should plan additional travel time through the area.

The nearly $10 million project was awarded by the Oklahoma Transportation Commission to T.J. Campbell Construction Co. of Oklahoma City. Work is expected to be completed in late summer 2022, weather permitting.

An ODOT sidewalk rehabilitation project begins Feb. 21 along Broadway and then South on Main Street.

The project includes the sidewalk in front of the U.S. Post office, Postmaster Gary Townsend said.

“The construction contractor said it may retrict acces to our customer service entrance for a few days,” he said.
