Area reports significant rain Monday

Substantial rain fell across Kingfisher County Monday.

Amounts varied widely from 2.66 inches at Cashion Grain and Feed Elevator to “close to an inch” at the CHS Elevator at Omega.

Kingfisher Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded 1.5 inches at the National Weather Service station in Kingfisher.

The Mesonet site on the Mueggenborg Farm west of Kingfisher recorded 1.4 inches.

Hennessey’s CHS elevator gauge measured 1.5 inches.

Other county reports included 2.0 inches at the Twila Adams residence east of Kingfisher, and 1.1 inches at the Wheeler Brothers Grain Elevator in Kingfisher.

The rain gave new life to area grain fields which have battled dry conditions through the winter months.

Mesonet readings included 1.04 inches at Watonga;1.66 inches at Guthrie, 1.36 inches at El Reno, 1.91 inches at Marshall, .98 inch at Yukon, 1.97 inches at Minco and .88 inch at Hinton.

The rainfall amounts diminished farther west in the state. Weatherford recorded 1.02 inches while Beaver in the Panhandle recorded 1.06 inches. Woodward recorded 1.0 inch while Tipton in southwest Oklahoma recorded .36 inch.
