August sales tax check up for Kingfisher, others

Four Kingfisher County municipalities – Kingfisher, Hennessey, Cashion and Loyal – saw increases in their August sales tax checks, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission report.

The OTC collects sales tax money for cities, towns and counties along with the state sales tax.

Check the accompanying chart for amounts and percentages of differences this August and last.

The Aug. 8, 2025, distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from June business.

Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.

The monies they reported this period represent sales from June 16 to June 31 and estimated sales from July 1 to July 15.

The disbursement of $215,486,166 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $14,960,252 from the $200,525,914 distributed to them in August last year.

The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $35,209,569.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $37,859,295 sales tax disbursement and $7,228,830 in a use tax disbursement.

Canadian and Kingfisher counties showed sales tax gains in August.

Use tax checks were mostly higher for county towns.

Use tax is collected at each entity’s sales tax rate on products purchased outof- state for delivery in state. Loyal does not levy a use tax.

Comparisons this year and last for county municipalities receiving use tax follow with the 2025 amount listed first: Kingfisher – $58,818.33 and $85,448.21.

Hennessey – $19,083.09 and $22,966.43.

Cashion – $14,239.49 and $11,748.67.

Dover – $5,480.71 and $2,254.40.

Okarche – $14,827.78 and $13,094.92.
