Bandshell moves another step closer to completion
As many elements of Newfi eld Community Park, located west of downtown Kingfisher, have been completed or are nearing completion, many residents are wondering when concerts and events will be scheduled at the bandshell on the festival grounds.
Recently installing the sound and light booth’s granite soundboard surface, Jerry Little, owner of Brothers Stone Fabrication, and his crew helped bring that moment one step closer.
Allowing for the management of the sound and lighting equipment during bandshell events, its construction was made possible through a generous donation provided by Dennis and Tammy Mueggenborg.
Once a member of a band and continually involved in the music ministry at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Dennis said, “I love music and just wanted to be a part of this project.”
Kingfisher Trails Inc. board Chairman and coordinator for the park’s development, John Gooden said, “We’re in the process of finishing the infrastructure and will soon have power to the bandshell as well as the sound and lighting booth.”
Once complete, the wiring will be a permanent fixture, but sound equipment will be kept in storage and brought out and set up as needed for events, Gooden said.
Surrounding the bandshell is an open lawn which can accommodate a large number of people and an area for parking nearby.
One component yet to be completed, Gooden said, is a central curved stairway leading up to the stage, which will add a welcome feature for hosting weddings as well as other events.
“It’s a big step forward,” Gooden said.
“Once the infrastructure is complete and we have power, we will begin scheduling concerts and events.”
