Dover Fire Department is one step closer to having use of a new tanker truck.

Kingfisher County Commissioners on Monday accepted a bid from J&J Custom Fire of Pawnee to convert a 1995 Freightliner into a tanker.

The bid was accepted unanimously at the commissioners’ weekly meeting and after consultation with members of Dover’s department.

Bids were opened at the previous week’s meeting.

J&J offered three bids ranging from $68,900 to $76,600. Members of the department requested the stainless steel option for the higher price and commissioners granted it.

All three J&J bids came in lower than the Cooper Creek Manufacturing bid of $99,500.

No other bids were received.

Commissioners also approved to send out for bid on a pair of wildland fire fighting apparatuses for the Omega Fire Department.

Bids will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, and opened at the Sept. 20 meeting.

A resolution was approved to begin the process of replacing a bridge on Bowman Avenue on the east side of Kingfisher.

The bridge is located over a tributary of Uncle Johns Creek, just east past the Kingfisher Golf Course.

Also at the meeting, commissioners approved monthly reimbursement forms from the district attorney’s ($2,071.81) and election board ($2,958.19) offices totaling $5,030 and a resolution acknowledging the county’s enrollment into the flexible benefits plan, also known as a cafeteria plan, provided by American Fidelity.

A six-inch pipeline crossing request for BCE-Mach III Midstream Holdings was given the go-ahead.

The crossing will be in District 1 and is 10 miles east of U.S. Highway 81 on Dover-Crescent Road and then two miles south.

In the discussion portion of the agenda, it was reported there are 78 current COVID cases in the county, up 10 from last week’s report.

Cashion, Dover, Kingfisher and Okarche all saw slight increases.

State Rep. Mike Dobrinski attended the meeting and talked with commissioners during the questions and comments portion of the meeting.

“If there is anything I can do to help you all, please let me know,” said Dobrinski, who represents District 59. “I’m all ears.”
