Bids opened, tabled for HFD brush truck

Kingfisher County commissioners opened seven bids on brush truck equipment for the Hennessey Fire Department, then tabled action until next week’s meeting to allow department members to study them more fully.

The bids follow: Jim’s Welding, $168,000; C3 Customs, $145,000; Myder LLC, $141,346.36; Hughes Fabrications, $185,800; Blanchat, $206,877; Steel Fire Apparatus, $151,515, and Daco Fire Equipment, $204,358.

The bids are all to install needed equipment on a truck already owned by the fire department.

Four fire department members attended the meeting: Levi Copeland, James Matousek, Cris Pribyl and Brandon Scott.

Commissioners also revisited two subjects presented by County Emergency Management Director Ryan Deatherage and a discussion by Kingfisher Trails Chairman John Gooden on behalf of the city of Kingfisher for help in cleaning up an old city dump site in order to turn it into a wetlands, replacing one the Kingfisher Airport will remove as part of a plan to extend the airport runway.

Deatherage’s and Gooden’s discussions occurred near the close of the hourlong meeting, involving federal grants that are available to assist in the efforts.

Commissioners tabled action until next week’s meeting in order to obtain additional information.

Chairman Anthony Schwarz announced a legislative meeting on Wednesday in Oklahoma City for county officials.

Actions approved during the meeting included:

• Resolution disposing of an electronic door opener at the sheriff’s office;

• Disposal of an HP laptop 450 computer for the engineer’s office;

• Disposal of an ASUS Computer for the commissioners’ office; (All the items had been declared surplus at a previous meeting.)

• Removed Emily Lee and AmberLee Green as receiving officers for the 911 account and added Bryann Guffey to the position;

• Salaries paid to county employees;

• Monthly reports of county clerk, court clerk, treasurer, assessor, health department, election board and sheriff’s department;

• Appropriations and transfers for January 2025;

• Declaration as surplus of a 2008 Chevrolet extended cab pickup and 2016 Armor Life belly dump trailer for District 1;

• Public service access drive for Canvas Energy at E 760 Road by Phillips bridge, northeast of Kingfi sher, District 1; • Pipeline crossing for Enlink Midstream five miles east and four miles north of Kingfisher, District 1, and,

• Declaration as surplus 2024 Dodge Durango (value $45,130) for Emergency Management.

Attending the meeting in addition to Commissioners Schwarz, District 3, chairman; Mike Sparks, District 2, and Jeff Moss, District 1, and the Hennessey Fire Department representatives were County Budget maker Nick Storm, who was accompanied by his son, Thomas, County Engineer Nik Smith, County Clerk Lee as minute clerk, Sheriff Aaron Pitts, Deatherage, Gooden and citizen Kelly Buck.
