BLAINE COUNTY FIRE Extremely hot, dry and windy conditions are compouding efforts to contain a fire west of Hitchcock burning since Thursday. Blaine County fire departments, assisted by neighboring county units and the Red Cross, were still battling the massive blaze at press-time Friday. The fire was visible to residents living northwest of Kingfisher and ash was reported falling at Canton Lake. State Sen. Mike Dobrinski of Okeene shared the above photos on Facebook. The top photo was taken looking south from Roman Nose State Park Thursday afternoon and the bottom photo shows the fire still raging at 2 a.m. Friday, looking northwest from the intersection of county roads N2590 and E720. Firefighters are working in temperatures exceeding 105 degrees in rough terrain in their efforts to contain the fire.
