Boys State topic of Lions Club address

One of the leaders of Oklahoma Boys State addressed the Kingfi sher Lions Club during a recent meeting. Local attorney Jared Harrison, left, is a KHS graduate who serves as the chief operating offi cer for “the week that shapes a lifetime.” Boys State moved last year to the campus of Rogers State University in Claremore after spending 35 years at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami. “NEO has been great for us, but it just felt time for a change,” Harrison told Lions. He said Boys State is about government, leadership and patriotism. “Combining those three makes us incredibly unique in the world. This year, Boys State will run from May 27-June 3. Harrison said the staff will focus on resetting the foundation after spending much of last year adjusting to the big move; even better production value with enhanced technology at their disposal; and additional guest speakers. The new speakers will include Col. Charles DeBellevue, the retired U.S. Air Force offi cer who is the last living ace fighter pilot from Vietnam, and Dr. Richard Haass, the author of “The Bill of Obligations.” Harrison, who also serves as the Kingfi sher city attorney, was introduced by Lions Club member Francis Nault, right.
