Calm Construction bid approved for extension office
Kingfisher County commissioners took action on three bid items Monday at their weekly meeting.
Calm Construction Co. of Yukon submitted the low bid of $1,059,000 to build the new Kingfisher County OSU Extension office.
Calm pledged to complete the structure in 36 weeks’ time. That also was the second shortest project completion time submitted.
The second low bid was submitted by Henson Construction at a bid of $1,116,000 with a 42week completion date.
Nine bids were submitted on the project, with the highest at $1,536,260.
Commission Chairman Heath Dobrovolny said Monday the contractor’s bonds had already been submitted and approved.
Extension Director Bryan Kennedy said the temporary office – a doublewide trailer – is being leased and it will be removed once the new permanent office is ready for occupancy.
The extension service has been saving money over the years to cover the cost of the new building, so there will be no addition to property owners’ county tax payments due to construction of the new office.
The extension service vacated its old headquarters in the Courthouse Annex Building after plumbing problems developed.
The new office will be located just to the south of the entrance to the fairgrounds off 13th Street, east of the current temporary facility.

Banner Equipment – $78,557.56 (plus two options: thermal camera, $3,200; rear camera, $750).

Commissioners opened one qualified bid, including the non-collusion clause, from Morrison Lawn Service of Oklahoma City to provide mowing and landscaping service at the courthouse during the current calendar year.
