Theta Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021 at 7 p.m.

President Karen Castonguay opened the meeting with the members reciting the opening ritual.

Ramona Paine, chaplain, gave the devotional “Have a Great Day…Unless” based on Matthew 5 (the Beatitudes).

Teri Peck, educational director, introduced the guest speaker for the evening, Tonya Cameron, Kingfisher Public School retired educator, who spoke about October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Cameron spoke about her journey with breast cancer after being diagnosed and her treatment.

According to data one in eight women will experience breast cancer. She urged members to keep up with their yearly mammograms.

Cathy Holsted, ways and means chairman, announced the baking dates for making bread and cinnamon rolls from Nov. 27-Dec. 3. Members are taking orders for breads.

Cinnamon rolls will only be available at their booth at Winterfest on Dec. 4.

So far, 63 pounds of Aunt Bill’s candy had been made by the October meeting date and will continue for the rest of the week.

Western District ESA will meet on Saturday, Oct. 23, in Norman and those chapters in the district were asked to bring socks, four door prizes and an auction item.

The members gave a monetary donation to purchase socks.

Holsted serves as the district treasurer.

As one of their philanthropic projects, the members voted to purchase a “kids” kitchen for the kindergarten class at Dover Elementary School.

The meeting was closed with the members reciting the closing ritual.

Dana Terrell and Castonguay, hostesses, served refreshments to Donna McPherson, Holsted, Terrell, Peck, Castonguay, Paine, Teri Stake, Dana Golbek, Cynthia Eaton, Misty Blundell and Stormy Simmons.

The next meeting will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the First Christian Church with hostesses Debi Trout and Karen Edgar.
